CD “minimalBACH”Preludes from „Well-tempered-piano“ revised by Sebastian BartmannThe new project "minimalBACH" by the piano duo "duo imPuls" is dedicated to the preludes by Johann Sebastian Bach from the first volume of the "Well-Tempered Piano", which are placed in the new, exciting listening context of "minimal music".In Bach's preludes, countless minimalist structures can be found, not least the most characteristic compositional technique of the so-called "continuation" of small musical ideas and motifs into an artistic web. The "minimal music" - with the main representatives Steve Reich, Philipp Glass and Terry Riley - produced a hitherto unknown radical simplicity by doing without a motivic continuation in the way it happened with Bach, instead only the smallest changes were made to motifs and patterns over long distances.Today's influences of digital design possibilities (sound & film) have brought techniques such as slow motion, loops, hard cuts, dissolves, color corrections into the general understanding of image and sound language. The aim of the composer and pianist Sebastian Bartmann is to use the "minimalBACH" project to focus on the musical essence and affects of the individual preludes by J.S. Bach, to extract their radiance and to shed new light on them with the techniques of "minimal music" and the modern techniques mentioned above.

Unique featuresIdeas and own compositionsIn addition to the classical-romantic literature, the diverse repertoire of "duo imPuls" also includes his own works. Sebastian Bartmann's award-winning compositions have been performed in many European countries as well as in the USA. As a versatile composer, he is reluctant to commit himself to one style, and thus multifaceted compositions for various formats in the fields of media, film and drama as well as instrumentations for the concert are created. In addition to highly acclaimed piano duo works, he has also written orchestral works, most recently the "symphony of perfect taste" for the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt/Oder, as well as "second hands - ein musikalisches Ausbruchsmärchen" for the 2nd violins of the Munich Philharmonic or "Last Letters - p.s. voices before and beyond" for the Blenheim Singers in Oxford, based on the death sentences of British personalities from history.Furthermore, the duo imPuls stands for extraordinary concert formats and concepts.
